Kate made an easy peasy chevron quilt for her son Harry using a selection of our fabrics and she wrote a detailed tutorial for you so you can make your own.

Here's your chance to get to know Kate a little better - Here's a brief Q&A we did with her.

I'm Kate from Shropshire, stay at home mum of 3.

When did you start sewing?

When I had my first child Harry who is now 5 , as I wanted to start making things for him that were a little different to what you can get in the shop. I also wanted to make him more personalised/special things.

Why do you love to sew?

I love the finished item that comes together from a few piles of random fabric. You create something so special as it's completely unique.

What do you love to sew most?

Quilts mainly, as I love the thought that they will be kept and treasured for so long.

What, or who, inspires you?

My children obviously inspire me daily to make things and create things for them, they are now starting to get to an age where they are asking for what they want made, such as the quilt in the tutorial!

What are your go-to colours?

Greys! I love neutrals, beiges, greys for myself. But then completely flip that and love a little colour for the kids!

Any advice/tips?

Just go for it! What's the worst that can happen? you sew something wrong and then just need to unpick it and try again! If you don't have a go you will never learn.

Recommendations (books, sewing supplies, craft fairs, etc.)

I love to make things out of other fabrics, such as clothes of the children's that they have outgrown, some retro curtains from a car boot with a crazy print! There's no limit to finding fab fabrics.

What do you like to do when you’re not sewing?

Eating chocolate! I need it to fuel my energy chasing after 3 children - as there's not a lot of spare time.

Who is your favourite Disney character?

The Beast out of Beauty and the Beast!

If you had a pet fox what would you name them and why?

Silver - so he could be my silver fox! A little like my hubby who is a bit older than me! lol!!
